i will help as well if she need a bit of money. Democracy cannot die... |
Actually, democracy is just a vehicle. Hopefully the people riding the vehicle vote wisely and with good foresight, otherwise, the vehicle will surely steer itself into the sea.
What worries me is the rogue and reckless behavior of the AGC in attempting to bill the wrong party in this case.
Obviously the AGC is all stressed up and confused, why else would one use a SC to defend one's case against an ordinary lawyer representing a poor cleaner?
Doesn't the AGC know that it is part of the civil service, assisting the government and citizens to enforce their respective legal rights and obligations in part?
Why is the AGC treating Singapore citizens like crap and expecting Mdm Vellama to pay for the work that is part and parcel of its normal duties?
Who is the AGC trying to frighten and for how long?
Does the AGC think that bankrupting Mdm Vellama would help develop for itself an aura of untouchability? Shame on the AGC for detracting form its original duties to preserve rule of law through its unnecessary claims against Mdm Vellama for attempting to clarify it.
If the AGC cannot perform its function to the satisfaction of the citizens of Singapore, due to the ambiguities of the constitution then perhaps Singaporeans have to elect legally literate MPs who are competent to convey their ideals and re-write the constitution to more clearly define their ideals democratically.
just my 2c, but it irks me much that the behaviour of the AGC seems to me, no better than the 2 quarreling aunties on the MRT:
the squabble of who deserves a reserved MRT seat is now re-enacted as who should pay the bill now that the correct interpretation of the constitution has been determined> the one with the mistaken interpretation?
What then is the point of having a constitution unless its message is as clear as day. Why is this national agreement in law between the government and its people so ambiguous and mysterious to all- were the parliamentarians who first created it and subsequent generations also a confused and inconsiderate bunch?
That a learned Judge had determined that the question of interpretation had been serious enough to warrant a hearing in court should have been clear notice to the AGC that a genuine constitution dilemma had arose; now rather than cooperating fully towards the making of a wise pronouncement, it seems the AGC is seeking out scape-goats over whom it should be to pick up its tab. As far as I understand, even the SCDF does not charge for its attendance to genuine civilian accidents and other emergencies, so why can't the AGC pick up its own tab?
Like the rude and uncouth Auntie ungrateful despite being given the seat, I really do hope that come Oct 16, the Judge will put the AGC in its rightful place- paying its own bills and taught a lesson for treating a Singapore citizen with less than the rightful decorum attributable to one.
Madam Vellama Marie Muthu is the wrong individual to seek, to subsidize the AGC with the extra pocket money it so insists.
2 Aunties, enjoy:
Perhaps Singaporeans need to be better educated both politically and legally, perhaps Singaporeans need better MPs.
